Mark, McDonald’s wins French Open Junior Championship

Paris – Austria’s Lilli Tagger won the women’s championship at the French Open without competing.

The 17-year-old Tagger beat Britain’s eighth seed Hannah Klugman 6-2, 6-0 in Saturday’s final when he made his debut this year’s junior Roland-Garros.

Tagger saved all five breakout points she faced and hit 19 winners.

She was the first Austrian player to win the youth singles championship at the French Open. Her previous best result in major tournaments was to reach the quarter-finals at the Australian Open this year.

Niels McDonald won the National Final 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-3. McDonald’s has become the German boys’ singles champion since Alexander Zverev won the junior championship at the 2014 Australian Open.
