Montreal’s Felix Auger-Aliassime stood out in the French Open after losing 2-7, 2-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 on Tuesday in the first rounds of 2-7, 2-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2.

Arnaldi re-exploded after being defeated in the second set, and he won his fourth and fifth game breakouts in the final. In his long-term return to Arnaldi, Oslite-Aliassem saved three games in his final match.

The 36th-ranked Italian played the bottom of the final two sets, including the sixth game of the fifth game, when he faced a double breakpoint to eliminate the 29th seed ober-aliassime.

Aliassime, a Russian diamond that had a medical pause before the fourth and fifth sets, looks like it’s about to win a convincing victory. He picked up the first breakout in the first set, climbed 6-5, and then loves to lead 1-0.

The Canadian brought that momentum into the second set, and he switched to rest in matches 1 and 3 and performed well in matches 2 and 4, eventually winning the match 6-2.

However, after Auger-Aliassime scored his fourth break to open the third set, Arnaldi finally got a Canadian serve. The Italian scored a break in Games 2 and 4, 6-3 at a 6-3 run.

Arnaldi then tied the game with a 2-2 score after converting the only breakout in Group 4 while gaining more confidence in serving volume.

Next, Arnaldi will face another Italian No. 26 Flavio Cobolli.

After reaching the Hamburg Open semifinal last week, he entered the Clay Racing Grand Slam, where he failed to join Canadians Gabriel Diallo and Denis Shapovalov in the second round of the men’s draw.

The most distant Russian diamond – Aliassime scored a fourth round at Roland Garros, a feat of his two accomplishments before losing to the final champion (2022 Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz last year).

Toronto’s Victoria Mboko is the lonely Canadian in the women’s singles match, facing Belgium’s Eva Lys in the second round on Wednesday. Mboko won her Grand Slam debut in the first round with New Zealand’s Lulu Sun in 6-1, 7-6 (4).
