Canada’s Diallo at Miami Open

Montreal’s Gabriel Diallo lost the main level of the Miami Open Tennis Championship 6-2, 2-6, 7-5 on Tuesday to the US Brandon Holt.

The six-foot-eight Diallo hammered 15 A’s in the game but gave up a crucial break in Game 11 of the third set.

With a 6-5 record, Holt completed the victory at the match point with a trump card.

The 23-year-old Diallo hopes to advance to his second consecutive Masters draw. He qualified in the second round at India Wells earlier this month before losing to France’s Arthur Fils No. 21.

No Canadian moved forward through the qualifying round, Montreal’s 18th seed Felix Oshesey and Ontario’s 27th seed Dennis Shapovalov is the only Canadian among the main attractions of the Miami man.

Oscillator and Shapovalov are seeds for the first round, and are scheduled to play in the second round on Friday.
