Who is Martin Landaluce?

Martin Landaluce was 2-14 in his lifetime at the ATP level before arriving at the Miami Open.

He is now in the quarterfinals.

So, who is Martin Landaluce? He is a 20-year-old Spaniard who reached No. 1 in the world junior rankings in February 2023, not long after capturing the 2022 US Open title. A product of the Rafael Nadal Tennis Academy, Landaluce first made a name for himself on the major tour in 2025 with a successful run at the Australian Open. He won a second Challenger title before wrapping up the season with an appearance at the NextGen ATP Finals.

Landaluce finished the year at No. 135 in the world, he currently ranks at No. 151, and will rise to No. The Madrid native will make his first top 100 – and even his first top 70 – if he reaches the semis.

According to the ATP website, Landaluce’s favorite shot is the back-line backhand; favorite place is grass; favorite tournament is Wimbledon; Favorite city on tour is Paris. His idol is Nadal, favorite singer is Bad Bunny, favorite actor is Kevin Hart, his hobbies include boxing, and his favorite sports team is Real Madrid.

Landaluce’s run in Miami began in the playoffs, where he eliminated Mackenzie McDonald and Thiago Agustin Tirante. He eliminated Marcos Giron, Luciano Darderi, Karen Khachanov, and Sebastian Korda.

“It says everything,” Landaluce said after saving one match point to beat Korda 2-6, 7-6(6), 6-4 in the fourth round on Tuesday afternoon. “I’m really joking [well] this week. I knew I had to do it because there are unbelievable players here since the qualifiers. I am very happy to be here playing with these amazing players.”

In the top section of the draw that was wide open with Carlos Alcaraz losing to Korda in the third round, Landaluce will face Jiri Lehecka on Wednesday.
