Mensik vs. Tiafoe, Sinner vs. Moutet

Jakub Mensik continues to defend his title in Miami with an exciting third round match against Frances Tiafoe on Monday. 2nd seed Jannik Sinner is also back on court, facing Corentin Moutet.
(19) Frances Tiafoe vs. (12) Jakub Mensik
Mensik and Tiafoe will meet for the second time in their careers when they meet in the second round of the Miami Open on Monday. Their last meeting took place near Delray Beach last year, when Mensik won the Davis Cup rubber 6-1, 6-4 to defeat Czechia in the final.
Shockingly, Mensik is the defending champion in Miami. The world number 13 won the title with a 7-6(4), 7-6(4) win over Novak Djokovic while also defeating Jack Draper, Arthur Fils, and Taylor Fritz. Mensik is on a roll again in 2026, with a 15-5 record that includes a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 win over Adam Walton on Saturday. Tiafoe dispatched Arthur Cazaux 7-6(1), 6-1 in his Miami opener, improving to 13-6 in the 2026 campaign. This should be exciting, but their previous result and Mensik’s obvious love for Miami points to another victory for the Czech.

(30) Corentin Moutet vs. (2) Jannik Sinner
Sinner and Moutet will face each other for the second time in their careers on Monday. They previously met at the 2024 French Open, where Sinner won 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1. Preparing for his second straight Miami title (he didn’t play last year), the Italian outlasted Damir Dzumhur 6-3, 6-3 on Saturday. Moutet earned his title at world number 2 by beating Tomas Machac 6-0, 1-6, 6-4.
This game could be a circus. Moutet is always happy to show off all kinds of extracurricular antics, and he probably knows that getting inside Sinner’s head is his real chance to make the game competitive. Unfortunately for the Frenchman, Sinner is about as classy as they come.
