Norrie vs. Michelsen, Machac vs. Moutet

Following the first round, several lefties will begin their campaigns at the Miami Masters on Saturday. Cameron Norrie will compete against Alex Michelsen, while Corentin Moutet will face Tomas Machac.
Alex Michelsen vs. (23) Cameron Norrie
Norrie and Michelsen will meet for the third time in their careers when they clash in the second round of the Miami Open on Saturday. They faced off in back-to-back weeks at the same time last year, splitting the two debates. Norrie won 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-1 on the indoor courts in Dallas before Michelsen got revenge with a 7-6(3), 7-5 victory in Delray Beach.

Ranked 40th in the standings, Michelsen missed out on a first-round bye this week. However, that may not necessarily be a bad thing. The 21-year-old is getting used to the change of scenery from Indian Wells to Miami, as he defeated Mattia Bellucci 6-2, 6-1 on Thursday. Norrie is coming off a quarterfinal result in the desert, but has been much better there than in South Beach. The 24th-ranked Brit is just 5-7 at this Masters 1000 event and has lost his opening match in two of his last three matches.
Pick: Michelsen at 3
(30) Corentin Moutet vs. Tomas Machac
It might be somewhat shocking to see Moutet as a seeded player in a matchup with Machac, but that’s the case in Miami. Thanks to a good performance on the summer courts in 2025, Moutet reached number 33 in the world and won thanks to a few withdrawals. Unfortunately for the 26-year-old Frenchman, he is 2-4 on the grand tour this season and will lose in the semifinals of the Phoenix Challenger to Marcos Giron.
You never know which Machac will emerge on any given day, but already going one round at 305 is an encouraging sign (the 48th-ranked Czech defeated Emilo Nava 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 on Friday). Showing something close to the best version of Machac, he should be able to take advantage of a struggling opponent.
Pick: Machac at 2
