Novak Djokovic withdraws from Miami Open with right shoulder injury

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the Miami Open with a right shoulder injury, tournament officials announced Sunday.

Djokovic has won the Miami event six times and reached the finals eight times. Both records are tied with Agassi for the all-time championship men’s singles record.

World No. 3 Djokovic lost to Jakub Mencic in last year’s Miami final. Djokovic won the tournament in 2007, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2016, and reached the final again in 2009.

The draw for the men’s championship will be announced on Monday.

Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, reached the fourth round of singles and the second round of doubles in Indian Wells last week. Earlier this year, he reached the final at the Australian Open, losing to Carlos Alcaraz.
