Fritz, Rybakina begin BNP Paribas Open by defending Eisenhower Cup title

The 2026 BNP Paribas Open festivities kicked off with the annual Eisenhower Cup doubleheader on Tuesday night.

Court 2 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden saw eight mixed teams compete in a Tie Break Tens format. Taylor Fritz and Elena Rybakina won for the second year in a row, defeating the American duo of Pupil Tien and Amanda Anisimova in the final.

It is Fritz’s third Eisenhower Cup victory, having won with Aryna Sabalenka. Rybakina is now 2-for-2 in her Eisenhower Cup matches. Both are singles champions at Indian Wells, with Fritz taking the title in 2022 before Ryabkina lifts the trophy in 2023.
