Canada’s Victoria M’Boko breaks into WTA top 10 for first time

Victoria Mboko has reached another milestone in her meteoric rise in tennis.
The Canadian entered the top 10 of the WTA rankings for the first time on Monday at No. 10.
The Burlington, Ont., native becomes the seventh Canadian to achieve the feat on either the men’s or women’s side, joining Milos Raonic, Denis Shapovalov, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Bianca Andreescu, Gini Bouchard and Karin Bassett-Seguso.
Mboko reached the final of the Qatar Open, beating the likes of Mira Andreeva and Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina to break into the top ten.
She lost to Czech Karolina Muchova in the championship match.
The 19-year-old Mboko ranked 10th and the 18-year-old Andreeva ranked seventh. This is the first time in 17 years that two teenagers have entered the WTA top ten.
However, Mboko could soon lose control after withdrawing from the Dubai Tennis Championships on Monday with a right elbow injury.
