Canadian Denis Shapovalov fired 22 aces to beat American Aleksandar Kovacevic 6-4, 6-4 at the Dallas Open on Thursday.
Shapovalov, the seventh seed from Richmond Hill, Ont., dominated on serve and made just one double fault in the match. Kovacevic had only four aces and two double faults.
Shapovalov also got the only breakthrough of the game.
Shapovalov faces Spanish third seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the quarterfinals on Friday.
