Auger-Aliassime beats Wawrinka to advance to quarter-finals of Occitanie Open

Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Switzerland’s Stan Wawrinka 6-4, 7-6(3) in the second round of men’s singles tennis at the Occitany Open on Thursday.
Auger-Aliassime hit 16 aces and scored 82% of his first serve points.
The Montreal native broke serve twice in 10 chances but hit the winner to lead 34-19.
Wawrinka hit 5 aces but had 4 double faults, won 73% of his first serve points and grabbed one break of serve in 4 opportunities.
Auger-Aliassime received a bye in the first round as the tournament’s top seed.
He will next face sixth-seeded Frenchman Arthur Fels in Friday’s quarterfinals.
