Canadian player Diallo was eliminated by Zverev in the first round of the Australian Open

Gabriel Diallo got off to a strong start but was no match for German third seed Alexander Zverev in his men’s singles first-round match at the Australian Open on Sunday.
The Montrealer won the first set of the best-of-five set 7-6 but was eliminated in the next three sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-2, in a match that lasted two hours and 51 minutes.
Zverev ended up with 15 aces and only one double fault. His first serve scoring rate was 84% and his second serve scoring rate was 56%.
Diallo hit 10 aces and five double faults but won just one of two break points, while Zverev won six of eight.
The German ace also won 38% of his points via return hits, while Diallo won just 23%.
Zverev won 18 of 19 service games, while Diallo won 12 of 18 service games.
Zverev will face the winner of the match between Australia’s Alexei Popyrin and France’s Alexander Muller.
