Carlos Alcaraz wins ATP Finals to secure year-end No. 1 ranking

TURIN, Italy — Carlos Alcaraz defeated Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Finals on Thursday to sweep his group and capture the No. 1 spot in the men’s tennis year-end rankings.
Alcaraz needed one more win to beat Jannik Sinner to the world number one spot, and the Spaniard did just that in time, winning comfortably 6-4, 6-1.
For the second time in his career, Alcaraz has ended the year at the top of the list.
In 2022, the Spaniard accomplished the feat at the age of 19, becoming the youngest player to reach the top spot in a year.
Alcaraz did not give him this chance, and he swept Musetti in less than 90 minutes to seal the victory on the third match point.
It was his third win in the Jimmy Connors division.
