Both Jannik SINERNER and Alexander Zveree are 1-0 in Bjorn Borg’s team at the Nitto ATP Finals, so the losers of their show on Wednesday – especially if it’s a sinner – will still be in good shape to get to the semis.

That doesn’t mean the sinner won’t fall for the motive, of course. The second-ranked Italian needs every win he can get going into Turin as he battles year-old Carlos Alcaraz with 1 status and 1 Sinner’s bid to do just that – with his 2024 title defense getting off to a strong start with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Felix Auger-AliasSime on Monday.

The 24-year-old’s streak now stands at six games, giving him an 11-2 career record in front of his home crowd. It should also be noted that Sinner is 17-1 since his last US Open loss to Alcaraz, and his only loss has come by retirement.

ZveriV has already reached two Nitto ATP Finals and his bid to make it three began with a 6-3, 7-6 (3) defeat of Ben Shelton on Sunday. The third-seeded German is 7-2 in his last nine games.

Unfortunately for zvevev, his loss of the simplicity of this has come to the contrary without sin. The 28-year-old battled back from a 3-6, 6-3, 7-5 comeback at the Vienna Championship but was beaten 6-0, 6-1 in the Paris semifinals – partly because he came from behind in the quarter-finals of the tournament against Daniil Medvedev.

SINERNER’s recent success gives him a cheap lead in the series of heads, but, he has won four in a row since once trailing zvering zvering 4-1. Underdog’s last victory was in a five-set marathon at the 2023 open, which preceded Sinner’s rise to the top of the sport.

Count the sinner who climbs to the top of his Robin squad on Wednesday.

Select: sin 2
