NINGBO, China — Rybakina fought back from a set down to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 in the Ningbo Open final on Sunday.
Third seed Rybakina had a slow start, falling behind her Russian opponent 1-4 in the first set. She rebounded in the second set and dominated her fourth-seeded opponent with a strong serve that included 11 aces.
This is the Kazakh player’s second championship this year and the tenth of her career, and she also won in Strasbourg.
Rybakina’s late-season performance spurred her into qualifying for the season-ending WTA Finals in Riyadh in November.
