Alcalaz’s Spain and sinner’s Italy can meet in the final after the Davis Cup draw

Bologna, Italy (AP) – Spain’s U.S. Open champion Carlos Alcaraz may face Italy’s Jannik Sinner in another title decision as their country is placed in two halves in the Davis Cup final.

Spain will play the Czech Republic in the quarterfinals until it may face Germany or Argentina, while defending champion Italy played against Austria on Wednesday. France plays Belgium in other semifinals.

Alcaraz beat Jannik Sinner 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 earlier this month to win the second U.S. Open Championship, the sixth overall Grand Trophy, and ranked No. 1 in the rankings.

The Davis Cup Final 8 will be held in Bologna, Italy from November 18 to 23.
