Marino, Canada opens second round from Guadalajara

Canada’s Rebecca Marino lost 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday, 6-3, 7-5 on the second round, and 6-3, 7-5 on Wednesday.

Marino launched 12 A’s with just one double fault, but there was only one of two chances in the game.

In the 30-minute hour game, No. 6 seed Maria had five aces in the one-hour game, reaching three double faults.

She also switched three of the 11 breakpoint opportunities.

Marino of Vancouver competed after defeating Italy’s Martina Trevisan 6-2, 6-3 on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old Marino will also compete in the first round of women’s doubles late Wednesday. Together with Fernanda Contreras of Mexico, she will accept Giuliana Olmos of Mexico and Aldila Sutjiadi of Indonesia.
