Carlos Alcaraz’s shaved head makes his first appearance in his first round victory
New York – Carlos Alcaraz appeared at the U.S. Open on Monday, with his new look in his first round: a shaved head.
Alcaraz was seeded second in Flushing Meadows, and when he arrived at the field, his buzz cut some of it before heading to the evening to beat the big service lully lully oelka 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 22-year-old Spanish drama is usually on it. He made just 17 unmandatory mistakes, winning 50 of 58 first-place finishes, saving all three breakthrough points he faced, winning OPEC three times in the opening match of the Grand Slam Championship and improving to 19-0.
Before the game, Alcaraz met golf star Rory McIlroy, who reached out and wiped off the stubble from his scalp. Alcaraz was full of hair last week when he competed in a mixed doubles match at the U.S. Open.
After winning, Alcaraz tried to express his opinions on the change.
“I have to ask people if they like new hairstyles. Do you like it, guys?” he asked the Ashe audience.
They roared in recognition.
“I think,” Alkaraz said, “they like it.”
There is at least one athlete and friend – not thinking the new approach is so keen: Frances Tiafoe lost to Alcaraz in the 2022 New York semifinals. That year was Alcaraz’s first championship in five Grand Slam trophys at the U.S. Open.
“It’s so scary. It’s absolutely scary. But that’s my guy,” said when asked about Alkaraz’s hairstyle. “Funny, I looked at him and I was like, ‘I think you’re aero.'”
Tiafoe’s criticism is not yet completed.
“I don’t know who told him to do this, but it’s horrible. It’s horrible from a guy who cuts his hair every week, goes for a week, and takes pride in good hairstyles,” said Tiafo. “But at the end of the day, it’s Carlos, that’s my guy.”
