Canada’s Cadence Brace wins the U.S. Open qualifying round

Canada’s Cadence Brace scored a good victory in the U.S. Open Women’s Singles Qualification.

Oakville, Ontario, native, about to enter LSU’s second NCAA season, defeated Japanese veteran Nao Hibino 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 in New York on Tuesday.

Brace, 20, ranks No. 223 in the world and is one of the last players to win a qualified attracting position. Hibino is the top 50 player, ranking 180th.

Brace will need two more wins to get a spot in the main draw that begins Sunday.
