Sabalenka

NEW YORK – Despite not sacrificing any power, Aryna Sabalenka did not make a lot of mistakes – well, until the end – and won 6-3, 7-6 (3) in the U.S. Open finals with a 6-3, 7-6 (3), making her the first woman to win a game in a row since Serena Williams a decade ago.

No. 1 Sabalenka won her fourth major championship in her career on a tough court. However, this is not all sailings.

Sabalenka led twice in the second set break and won 5-4. But at the age of 30, she was so close to the trophy that she had a chance to hit the expense and get the game. Instead, Sabalenka put the ball into the net, giving Anisimova a chance to rest.

After that incredible lady, Sabalenka put the racket on the blue court and smiled. A moment later, Anisimova, a 24-year-old American, shook her left fist while 24,000 or so friends rose up to applaud and shout at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Ah, but after 15 minutes on Flub, Sabalenka knelt on the court and covered her face with her hands, at her third match point.
